Exploring the Connection Between Sports and Cryptocurrency: An Interview with Nexo’s Dimitar Stalimirov (PBW2025)
During the 2025 Paris Blockchain Week, CryptoPotato engaged in a conversation with Dimitar Stalimirov, who serves as the Director of Brand Marketing at Nexo. He provided perspectives on how the organization is redefining its role within the digital assets and financial services landscape.
As the sector evolves, Nexo seems to be adjusting by delving into innovative marketing approaches, exploring new business avenues, and enhancing client interactions. Among these initiatives, the exploration of partnerships in the sports realm stands out, potentially inviting broader audience interest.
Building Connections Through Strategic Sponsorship
Nexo has embarked on forming alliances within the sports sector, particularly focusing on tennis. Their inaugural foray included a sponsorship at the tennis tournament in Acapulco, with plans for future endeavors on the horizon. Stalimirov highlighted that this initiative aims to do more than just increase visibility; it seeks to connect with a targeted demographic.
“Our target audience includes individuals who lean towards more affluent sports,” he articulated. “However, we remain open to any opportunities that may arise.”
The objective is to strengthen brand connections with users, engaging them not just through finance, but also in areas they are already involved in.
“We aim to be more than just a service provider; we want to be a relatable entity,” Stalimirov expressed. He emphasized that Nexo is actively listening to client insights to enhance brand recognition, noting, “We want to connect with them in every possible way.”
Transitioning from Exchange to Comprehensive Ecosystem
Following a recent rebranding effort and a strategic growth initiative, Nexo is positioning itself beyond the limitations of a conventional exchange.
The organization is focusing on diversifying its offerings to encompass a wider array of financial products, especially within digital assets.
“We will certainly broaden our range in terms of product types and ways for clients to diversify their investments,” Stalimirov stated.
He acknowledged that clients seek more than basic trading opportunities at Nexo. They are in search of a richer, more cohesive financial experience.
“While you can certainly trade on Nexo, that’s not the primary reason individuals come here,” he remarked. “If trading is all you want, there are numerous exchanges available.”
The company’s emphasis appears to be on a client-centered approach. Plans involve the introduction of new business-to-business solutions and international marketing campaigns aimed at increasing awareness and attracting new clients.
Facing Challenges in a Changing Environment
Similar to many entities in the digital finance realm, Nexo is adapting to a fast-changing regulatory and market landscape. Compliance is crucial, but so is ensuring an optimal client experience.
“Compliance is essential, but it needs to be handled quickly and in a manner that benefits the consumer,” Stalimirov remarked.
On the current market dynamics, he maintained a balanced perspective. Even amid volatility and external pressures such as geopolitical issues, Stalimirov believes the foundational aspects of the market remain robust.
“What we see is more of a reaction or perhaps an overreaction to situations that aren’t particularly alarming for the industry,” he expressed. “Honestly, I think it’s a favorable time to enter the market. However, don’t take that as financial advice.”
