Paris Officials on High Alert Following Attempted Kidnapping of Crypto CEO’s Family
Authorities in Paris have initiated a criminal inquiry following a violent attempt to abduct the daughter of a cryptocurrency firm CEO and her young child during the day, just a short distance from the city’s central courthouse, as reported on May 13.
The incident, recorded on video, occurred on May 12, showing a group trying to force the woman into a vehicle while she cried out for assistance.
A man believed to be her partner was seen protecting their toddler from harm, enduring several blows from the attackers in the process. The assailants fled when a bystander intervened with a fire extinguisher.
According to local media, the woman is the daughter of the CEO of Paymium, a cryptocurrency exchange located in Paris. The authorities have not disclosed her identity or that of her family.
### Coordinated Attack by Suspected Gang
The Paris Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that a formal investigation has been opened on charges of attempted kidnapping, unlawful detention, aggravated assault, and criminal conspiracy.
Prosecutors indicated that the individuals involved acted in a coordinated manner, were armed, obscured their identities, and worked as a group, all of which heighten the gravity of the allegations. The reasons behind the attempted abduction are still being investigated.
This episode took place less than two miles from where a prominent American media figure, Kim Kardashian, was testifying in a criminal trial related to a 2016 armed robbery in which she was held at gunpoint and lost millions in jewelry.
Law enforcement has not established any link between the two events. Police continue to analyze surveillance footage and are requesting assistance from the public for further information.
